The 27th annual Stop Children’s Cancer Bear-A-Thon united the community in the fight against cancer on Wednesday, Feb. 11, raising more than $100,000.
Ocala-based radio stations 93.7 K-Country, 92.5/95.5 Wind-FM and 352today started their on-air efforts for donations and auction bids at 6 a.m. Wednesday until the 7 p.m. auction cutoff.
Listeners called as donations racked up toward the nonprofit’s iconic stuffed Bears and Chemo Ducks, which go straight into the hands and hearts of children in treatment at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. The bears are also given to siblings for support.
These funds support clinical trials and research to find cures for pediatric cancers and provide children at the hospital with a piece of comfort as they go through treatments. Support from these longtime partners make it possible to reach more people, raise more funds and make a bigger impact for the kids and families at the children’s hospital.
Thank you to the 93.7 K-Country, 92.5/95.5 Wind-FM, 352today and the generous members of the community who made this possible.
