Dance Marathon at the University of Florida celebrated its 31st year by uniting the Gainesville and campus community to help “Write the Story” for every child and family who relies on UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital.

During the weekend of April 5-6, dedicated students rallied to stand and remain awake for 26.2 hours in solidarity with children fighting pediatric illness. This year’s Main Event culminated in an impressive $1,351,566.99 raised for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital.

Amidst the energy and excitement in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center, the miracle makers found time for more tender moments, such as the cutting of hospital bands, when Miracle Families cut the wristbands off participants, signifying the day when childhood illness no longer exists and each child will have their own hospital wristband removed.

This year, DM at UF introduced an emotional new segment called “Heart of the Mission,” honoring the memory of ambassadors and students who had passed away. The programming culminated in a celebration, as CMN ambassador Riley McFadden marked exactly one year of cancer remission by ringing the ceremonial bell.

The event’s heart was fueled by Miracle Families who took the stage to share their stories, demonstrating the transformative impact of CMN hospitals, Dance Marathon and UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital on young patients and their families.

Local high schools also played a critical role in Dance Marathon’s success, holding their own Mini Marathons and contributing an impressive $190,190.99 to this year’s goal.

Over three decades of making a difference, Dance Marathon at UF has raised more than $33 million for CMN Hospitals at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. As the largest student-run and highest-fundraising philanthropy in the southeastern United States, their commitment to uniting campus and community for this cause remains unwavering.

The impact extends far beyond fundraising numbers. Donations to DM at UF support three critical areas: patient care, research, and education. These funds provide essential resources – from medical equipment to groundbreaking therapies – creating an environment of healing and hope. Your support helps change the future of children’s health by advancing these vital initiatives.
