We’re celebrating 34 years of fundraising with one of Children’s Miracle Network’s Hospitals most generous partners. This year’s campaign with local Walmart and Sam’s Club stores was one of the most successful ever, with over $333,000 raised for UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. From Valdosta, Georgia to the Treasure Coast, Walmart and Sam’s Club locations in over 20 counties participated.
Bailey Abbott is this year’s CMN Hospitals Local Champion and receives her treatment at UF Health. Her mother, Ashley Abbott, spoke about how much these yearly fundraising drives mean to her.
“Our family is very appreciative for all the support our hospital receives from Walmart and Sam’s Club. Because of places like this, Bailey and other children obtain the very best care at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital.”

With so many years of continued support from area Walmart and Sam’s Club stores, CMN Hospitals fundraising has become a family affair for some employees. Maria Brown is a department manager at the Ft. Pierce, Fla., Walmart Supercenter, and her mother, Patricia Morales, is a retired Walmart employee. Maria spoke about why they both feel so strongly about supporting the work of CMN Hospitals.
“My mother and I have raised money for Children’s Miracle Network for 27 years and have loved every minute of it,” Maria shared. “From the beginning, we visited the hospital and saw firsthand why we were needed and called upon to raise money for the children. I love taking the leadership of this particular charity because these kids need us. We are more than a business. We are a family and we take care of families that desperately need us.”
