With Your Help

A new year, a new NICU

Ten years have passed since the last significant renovation for UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital neonatal intensive care unit. Now, the space is growing to match increased demand for services.

With your help, the NICU is transforming from a 12,632-square-foot facility into a 20,844-square-foot facility, providing neonatal caregivers with enhanced space and technology, and patients and family members with the privacy and support they need to thrive during a difficult time in their lives.

Our focus will be on our patients and their families, through 16 additional beds to keep up with the ever-increasing demand for expert care, three more private family rooms, a sibling play area, dedicated breastfeeding areas, and an updated facility with a modern feel to provide the warmest, most comforting environment to each and every person who passes through the NICU’s doors. This also will give parents more confidence as they transition from the hospital to home, where they will care for their baby full time.

UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital is committed to providing our community, the state of Florida and the Southeast with the most advanced NICU in the country to ensure our facilities match the expert care and support that we continue to deliver to our tiniest, most vulnerable patients. Please help us care for babies who need advantage for survival. By making a gift to the UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital NICU, you are investing deeply into our future.
