Dylan Able to Run, Play After Near Foot Amputation

Dylan was a typical four-year-old boy who loved to run and play. However, all of that changed one day when Dylan’s foot was nearly severed in a terrible lawnmower accident.

The lawnmower blades sliced through the muscle and bone of Dylan’s shin. It had also removed his big toe and tore the skin and muscle from the heel, sole, and inside of his foot. In cases like this, amputation is usually the only option, but the team of physicians at the University of Florida did everything they could to save Dylan’s foot.

After several surgeries and almost a month at Shands Children’s Hospital at UF, Dylan was released. Through much physical therapy and rehabilitation, Dylan can once again run and play.
