UF Health Gridiron Challenge Volunteer Application

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 2019 UF Health Gridiron Challenge.

UF Health Gridiron Challenge is a community fundraising event for CMN Hospitals at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. It includes a flag football tournament and tailgate on Saturday, Feb. 9 at Flavet Field, and a VIP event Monday, Feb. 11 at the Exactech Arena.

Reference these tables when completing your volunteer application. A member of the UF Health Gridiron Challenge team will follow up with you after receiving your application.

Wednesday, Feb. 6: Staging

Shift Times 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Assignments Staging: Event staging to ensure all supplies are ready to be loaded.

Thursday, Feb. 7: Loading/Unloading & Pre-Tournament Check-In

Shift Times 10 a.m.-2 p.m. 3 p.m.-6 p.m. 5 p.m.-8 p.m.
Assignments Loading/Unloading: Load and unload vans with event supplies. (Some heavy lifting may be involved.) Set-Up: Pre-Tournament Check-In set up. Pre-Tournament Check-In: Help teams sign waivers, hand out T-shirts and provide details about Saturday’s event.

Friday, Feb. 8: Loading/Unloading

Shift Times 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Assignments Loading/Unloading: Load and unload vans with event supplies. (Some heavy lifting may be involved.)

Saturday, Feb. 9: Gridiron Challenge

Shift Times 5 a.m.-9 a.m. 8 a.m.-noon noon-4 p.m. 3-7 p.m.
Assignments Set-Up: Unload trucks and stage the field and stations for the event.

Check-In: Check in teams, volunteers and vendors, hand out T-shirts and show volunteers their station location.

Field Attendant: Assist the referees with the games and ensure the tournament runs smoothly. Check ice/drinks and refill as needed, run scores to the main tent so they can be tallied.

Tailgate Attendant: Assist with the various tailgating games during the event to ensure they run smoothly.

Face Painting: Stationed at the “Kid’s Area” and painting faces.

Spirit Station: Stationed at the “Kid’s Area” and helping kids with arts and crafts.

Kid’s Area: Help monitor entire “Kid’s Area” and ensure everything runs smoothly. This includes monitoring the bounce house and its occupancy limits.

Food Attendant: Manage various food tables (popcorn, snow cones and lunch). Responsible for handling food and distributing to attendees.

Miracle Maker Training Camp: Have basic football skill knowledge? This is the position for you! Teach kids principles of football so they can get involved and be active.
