Leadership Council Tallahassee

About

The Leadership Council Tallahassee’s mission is to increase funds and awareness for UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital, specifically Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital.

UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital’s outreach initiatives are now serving children from the Big Bend closer to home here in Tallahassee. Last year alone, children from the Big Bend area walked through the doors of UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital more than 14,000 times. With this vast number of visits, UF Health Shands has expanded, serving children from this area in 13 specialties in need of ongoing care by their physicians.

“I feel fortunate to have been engaged with Shands/Children’s Miracle Network’s regional efforts for the past two decades. It has been exciting to see our growth in the community during that time, and rewarding to know of the children and families we can now serve locally. As Chairman, I feel tremendously privileged to serve along with the Leadership Council in continuing to grow our mission of providing the best hospital care to all children in need.”

“I became interested in the UF Health Council by way of a mutual friend who invited me to a social one of the members were hosting.  At this gathering, I saw the great individuals involved directly and indirectly with the group (a few I knew, and a few friendships began that day).  I also was able to hear the goal(s) and vision of the group with the children at the forefront of this vision; and with the indirect affiliation I have with Shands due to my sister’s illness – in adulthood, nonetheless – I became more intrigued with the council noticing they were in front of a wave soon to be very beneficial to Tallahassee: better, easier, efficient care for kids in Tallahassee…in need of what Shands can provide.  A situation changed in my friend’s circumstances; a seat was available with the Council; I was referred, and as a result graciously welcomed. I am honored to be apart of the Council Tallahassee, and recognizing our goals and objectives are steadily gaining traction in Tallahassee with the end result being easier, efficient care for the kids in need in Tallahassee and its surrounding areas.”

“During the toughest of times, communities find the heart and energy to rally around one another and that’s why I support the mission of the Leadership Council. Families and patients deserve the opportunity to be seen and treated close to home.”
