
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital announces a significant milestone in the organization’s history: $100 million raised since the program’s inception in 1985.
UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital is one of 170 member-hospitals in CMN. Funds raised through CMN support the most critical needs of children’s hospitals, including medical research, patient care and education. In fiscal year 2018, $9.8 million was raised for CMN through Dance Marathon events, local partners, corporate sponsors and community events.
Each year, CMN:
Provides research funding for UF Department of Pediatrics – over $25 million given collectively
Supports the Child Life program – over $4 million collectively
Supports Arts in Medicine program – over $500,000 collectively
Provides meal vouchers for our families – over $650,000 collectively

CMN Telethon
Children’s Miracle Network fundraising begins on behalf of the Shands Pediatric Programs. First telethon raised $203,000.

Dance Marathon program started at the University of Florida and raised $12,424.
1996
Shands Children’s Hospital
Naming of Shands Children’s Hospital. Dance Marathon program started at Florida State University and raised $19,001.

Renovation
Renovations funded by CMN of the 4th floor, including playrooms/doorway and information desk
1999
Visitor’s Assistants established and fully funded by CMN – now called Guest Services. Main welcome center is on the 4th floor with guest services individuals on 10th floor PICU and the 3rd floor NICU.
2000
Installation of security cameras and alarm system in pediatric areas ($250,000).
2002
Cardiology program and fetal echo machine ($656,925).
2003

NICU Renovation ($4.2 million)
2004
NICU monitors and beds purchased by CMN ($621,476).
2005
4th floor IMC/Cardio renovation, CMN funded ($489,961).
2007
Floor 44 updates, CMN funded ($264,000).
2008

ShandsCair
ShandsCair Ambulance renovations funded by CMN ($56,000). Ayers Surgical Center funding of $118,467 by CMN.
2010
Immuno-compromised unit renovation, CMN funded ($262,525).

CMN gave $1.5 million toward the Pediatric Emergency Department renovation
