A Celebration of Miracles
The 13-hour broadcast took place in the UF Health Shands Hospital Atrium on Thursday, Sept. 19. On-air hosts from 98.5 KTK , 97.3 THE SKY, 850 AM ESPN Gainesville and 103.7 The Gator conducted live broadcasting from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., raising awareness and funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital.
Throughout the day, listeners heard inspiring stories from local Children’s Miracle Network families who have been treated at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. During the live event, the representatives were on hand to take donation information for our local hospital. All of the donations given stay local and are used for the most immediate needs of pediatric research and patient care at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital.
Children’s Miracle Network Ambassador families and radio station on-air hosts have been fundraising since Aug. 1 through the online fundraising campaign. The families and hosts have participated in bake sales, homemade jewelry sales, tabling at Publix locations, percent nights at local restaurants and much, much more.
As always, the Atrium was filled with ambassador families, volunteers and support from the UF Health community. As a special treat this year, participants watched Mr. Fro Warren, of Micanopy, cut his long hair for the first time since 1979 for Locks of Love—in exchange for donations from the community. You can search for his page on the website listed below to support his awareness and fundraising efforts.
