Last April, 18 youth anglers grabbed their fishing poles to help pediatric patients- many of whom are their same age. Since 2005, Fishing for Kids has raised approximately $57,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at Shands Hospital for Children at the University of Florida. Last year alone, 59 boats with more than 100 adult anglers and 18 youth anglers participated. Additionally, at least 18 boats of anglers were Shands employees from Pediatric ICU Nursing, Engineering and Facilities departments. Fishing for Kids 2011 was grateful for the contributions of eleven sponsors, including WW Gay Mechanical and Anderson Columbia.
