In a January ceremony, Research Is The Answer (RITA) presented a check for $100,000 – making this foundation’s total gift to Shands Jacksonville $1,001,500. This includes a $25,000 grant specifically for the Lymphedema Program at Shands Jacksonville.
Officials from Rehabilitative Services will use the money to provide compression garments for patients suffering from lymphedema.
What makes this grant extraordinary is that the Lymphedema Program is new to Shands Jacksonville.
This grant makes it possible for those who previously were unable to receive treatment to now get the treatment they need and the compression garment.
This program supports all patients who need lymphedema therapy, not just breast-cancer survivors.
